Stephanie Grant is a writer, teacher of writing, and a freelance editor who works across fiction and nonfiction. She studied creative writing at New York University where she worked with Mona Simpson.  Her own fiction examines the myriad ways women’s and girls’ bodies become the site of political, cultural, and existential struggles in American society.  Stephanie’s nonfiction sits at the intersection of memoir and cultural inquiry.

As a teacher Stephanie is known for fine-grained attention to craft, ranging from story arc to sentence structure. She brings all these skills to her editing work as well as to guest workshops.

Stephanie has taught writing at The Ohio State University, Mount Holyoke College, and American University in Washington, DC where she directed the MFA Program in Creative Writing and is now emeritas faculty. (Here is the AU page about her.)
